About the Artist

Raymond Huynh is an emerging Sydney based artist who has completed his Bachelor of Visual Arts from Sydney College of the Arts in 2024.
He keeps a broad practice, working with Ceramics, Sculpture, Installation, Glass, and Photo-media. Emphasising materiality in works, he is interested in capturing the ‘essence’ and trace of things, and how materials can contain, hold, and depict notions of ‘memory’, and be given a sense of ‘agency’ through modes of artmaking. He draws influence from, the environment, alchemy/material transformation, theories of craft, and the human condition.
Specifically, he engages in a dialogue with ceramics, harnessing the sensorial, transformational, and distinct processes and properties of the medium to materialise research and ideas.
Raymond has also exhibited at various galleries or spaces. These include, The South Australian Museum, as a finalist for the 'Waterhouse Art Prize' (2024), Gaffa Gallery (2024), Verge Gallery (2022-2024), being awarded 2nd place for the USU Creative Awards Visual Arts category (2022), COMA Gallery, Water Through Reeds Gallery, Fisher Library (Verge Projects 2022), Saywell Gallery, Backspace Gallery, through his curatorial project ‘Emotions Through Glass’(2023), and Sydney College of the Arts, for Sydney Crafts Week(2022), and New Contemporaries (Degree show 2023), being awarded the Jean De Ghee Art prize.

Currently, Raymond is an Honours candidate at Sydney College of the Arts (2025). He hopes to continue working as an artist, ceramicist, and craftsperson following his studies at the University of Sydney.
